Fear is not a Friend

Please find below a snippet of the this weeks devotional from the Relaying the Foundations Study. I hope this edifies and encourages your faith.

As I was praying this morning I caught something that I feel may be helpful to a few people here.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18 KJV

This says there is no fear in love because fear involves torment.

Consider with me, what is the ultimate place of torment? I think we would all agree that that would be hell. And if this is so we can accurately state that the environment of hell is charged with fear. In fact, I would go as far as to say that one of the defining characteristics of hell is the crippling atmosphere of fear.

Therefore- to my point now- when we entertain the experience of (prolonged) fear we are entertaining an experience of what hell will be like!

Many of us have made worrying a habit and sleep in the same bed with anxiety on a daily basis. In some cases people even consider it prudent to be a "worrier"

I want to encourage you that fear has no place in God and so it should have no place in you. That's why it says love casts out [expels, abolishes] fear. They are signposts for opposing kingdoms.

As far as heaven is from hell, I pray that fear would be from removed from you, in Jesus Name! Resist it like the devil it is.

Just because you don't have the answer or know what will happen next is no reason to condemn yourself to the environment of hell.

People in hell have no hope, no future and no options. The spirit of fear seeks to impose this same reality onto you here on earth, despite the fact you aren't even going there!

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

2 Corinthians 3:17 KJV

In God there is always hope, there is always a future and there are always options. Be brave in the knowledge that even if you have to go through the valley of the shadow of death, you won't go alone, God will go with you. And he will make you to prosper in the desert, thrive through a famine and rise despite incarceration.
